In June of 1862, about 150 men, 1 women, and 3 children left Fort Garry Winnipeg for the BC gold fields (these people are called the overlanders)
As the Overlanders crossed the mountains, they were forced to abandon horses, cattle, and everything but necessities.
In Northern B.C some of the Overlanders built rafts to travel down the Thompson River towards Quesnel.
